Title: Zach David Sobiech
PRE AP ENG 10: ThINK 1
Each and every day we all come
across many different types of people not knowing what they could be suffering
from. Even though some may be perfectly fine, you still do not know their
situation. Sometimes these same people is someone’s child, family member
(auntie/uncle, cousin, and sister/brother), or friend and they could be dying
from a disease or cancerous infection. If you were aware of their situation you
would probably feel different and have a different opinion of them. In some
cases people knowing about their sickness will take advantage of those types of
people and try to misuse them. I did some research and the story of this young
man name Zach Sobiech struck a nerve. I learn about his story on this video, http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/bestoftv/2013/05/25/exp-clouds-zach-sobiech.cnn
. Zach had such a wonderful spirited heart, but sadly it all came to an end. His
story is a sad but yet inspirational tragedy. Zach is a young 18 year old boy
that was diagnosis with a type of cancer known as osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma is
a cancerous bone tumor. This young man had to go through ten surgeries and
twenty chemotherapy sessions. Zach formed a band; he has inspired me, and is a
special person that I will always remember.
Zach formed
a band with his friend, Sammy Brown. The name of the band was A Firm Handshake.
He also wrote this beautiful song,
“Clouds.” This song is so touching, it describes how his time is coming to an
end “it won’t be long now,” and he’ll go “up, up, up in the clouds,” Zach
Sobiech. However, he wrote this song because he was told he had only weeks to
live and he felt this song will help his family cope over his death. I believe
this was very thoughtful of him, showing his concern for his family and
friends.
After
finding out about Zach and his issue, it has been such an inspiration to me. Also
I feel that Zach and me are alike in some ways. Like Zach I care about others
feelings more than my own and making others happy. I commend Zach for what he
has done. He has inspired me to share his story, so everyone can see that many people
are suffering and you just do not know it. However, what inspired me the most
about Zach is his strength, bravery, and courage he had at a time like this. It
would have been such an honor to have met Zach; his bravery inspires me to keep
moving forward always.
Zach knowingly as he was dying,
stated in the video, was concerned about others more than himself. I really enjoyed how in
many parts of the video Zach was continuously smiling. Zach Sobiech has truly
been a blessing to not only me, but to the world also. Zach David Sobiech was
born on May 3, 1995 sadly he passed on May 20, 2013. “You don’t have to find
out you’re dying to start living,” quote by Zach Sobiech. R.I.P (Rest in Peace)
Zach “Gone but NEVER forgotten,” by the unknown.
I truly wish I could have met Zach.
He is gone to a better place now, looking over all of us now. I will cherish
Zach in my heart. He shows us that we should take advantage of the time now
that we have with family and friends because you never know what may come up.

It is important for other people to know that others are suffering just like they are. It might not be the same kind of suffering, but it is still a person they can relate to. Nice job at explaining his story and relating it to other people.
